  1. New Sonata Boom

The B087 looks similar to the section of booms supplied with the newest Selden rigs (They also look similar to the dinghy sections). Hope this helps Joe
  2. Sonata Nationals 2016

Hi Paul, the Nationals are to be held between Thursday 21- Sunday 24th July more details to follow soon. Joe
  3. Lifting Keelers at the Nationals

Hi All, I'd already had this conversation with a member of christchurch who sails against us in our local handicap racing. I personally think it would be great and will discuss hopefully over the weekend. Cheers Joe
  4. Colin Fuller

Hi Colin. Not sure if you are interested in racing but there is a reasonable fleet of Fin keel sonatas racing in Poole Harbour. Also the Nationals are due to be at Poole YC next year. Best regards Joe
  5. Ullman spinnaker for sail. Used on Presto for light winds Brixham nationals and some light winds tuning days only £450 Joe 07787741871
  6. Totally agree Gareth, I too am frustrated by the 4 day event but this is the way the majority of people want to go and therefore its what must be done. I think 5 days presents a better opportunity for it to be a holiday I must admit im not looking forward to a 12 hour each way drive for 4 days in Helensburgh particularly as there is always a risk of losing a days racing effectively creating a 3 day event. The Fri-Mon is to best fit the tides in Poole, anyway the Thurs - Sun July date seems to be more popular on the whole. Expect a decision one way or another soon as we are trying to get more organised with regards to knowing when and where championships will be. Joe
  7. Hi Murray, What about Loch Long week and other events that I know would rule out some of You/Neil etc. I know there wont be any fixed dates but looking at usual dates? Joe
  8. Sonata Nationals 2016

All sonata sailors, a very early request but Poole YC have been looking at dates in order to get the best tides to allow for as much fair racing as possible. The suggestions are 4 day events and the two offered dates are Thurs 21-Sun 24 July or Fri 19-Mon 22 August. Which dates suits best to avoid other big events and their usual dates? Thanks in advance Joe

  10. Sails

Hi will I have an ullman sails main and no1 that we used at the nationals only. Could offload them if interested? Joe
  11. Hull Numbers

Hi Sam, No sonata hull number 1 has a sail number in the mid 8000s and was built in the seventies. Don't think there was a system. Joe
  12. Entry for the David Thomas Regatta in Cowes on 2nd June is now online. http://enter.sailracer.org/events/enter-v2rya.asp?eventid=166105 If entries exceed 5 then we will get our own start. Should be good to do some shorter races after the marathon the day before:) hope to see you there Joe
  13. Hi Mark, Im actually based in Poole and the event came to me through the association, so im afraid I can be little help Joe
  14. Hi All, The Royal London Yacht Club in Cowes is hosting the "David Thomas Regatta" for all David Thomas designed yachts. The date for the event is the 2nd June which is the day after the round the island race. If 5 or more sonatas enter then the plan will be for it to be a one design class with our own start. Hopefully this date encourages all competitors from round the island to also enter this event. Providing I can find enough crew for the weekend (This is proving a bit of a struggle) I plan on being there. Anyone interested please contact Jill Stevenson the sailing secretary at RLYC at sailing@rlyc.org.uk to register your interest and she will keep you up to date with all the information. Hope to see you there Joe
  15. From a southern point of view the nationals being a 4 day event is a bit of a put off as it is a long way for 4 days of sailing. Also the new date gives us a clash but i suspect most dates in august will. possibly of a 5 day event earlier in the summer would be more accomodating for all just a thought Joe
