South Coast: Hamble and Solent

The Solent has been the heart of yacht racing within this country since time began. It has been the host for many regattas ranging from the Round the World races to Cowes Week. The area is full of sailing and yacht clubs, which offer a vast range of activities and facilities.
The South Coast was pleased to invite the Sonata Class for the 2003 Nationals at the Royal Southern Yacht Club. This Club was founded in 1837, with the Duke of Edinburgh as Admiral since 1952. The club displays a fine example of the history of the area and the level of racing.
Racing alone does not keep the heart pumping, as many boats within this area enjoy the vast sailing area for cruising, with many places to stop for tea and cake or anchor in one of the many quiet bays.
The best time to see and enjoy the wealth of yacht racing is during Cowes Week where the Sonatas have their own Class.
