Sunderland Yacht Club

The Sunderland Yacht Club Sonata fleet has recently grown to thirteen boats. The SYC Sonatas enjoy competitive club racing within the handicap fleet at weekends and Wednesday evenings.

The North East Cruiser Racing Association (NECRA) provides an opportunity for SYC Sonatas to race against boats from other yacht clubs based on the North East coast. This includes Sonatas from the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club (RNYC), Tees & Hartlepool Yacht Club (THYC) and Whitby Yacht Club (WYC).

Sunderland’s purpose built clubhouse provides all the necessary facilities of a successful yacht club. There is plenty of affordable holiday accommodation within walking distance of the clubhouse. Visitors can also expect a delicious meal prepared by Andy and Carolyn from the club galley as well as a warm welcome at the club bar.

Sunderland marina is accessible at all states of the tide, as are most of the SYC chain moorings.
