There are seven Sonatas loosely based in the Tay area, not all at the same club: "Fiddlesticks", "Fiddlers Three", "Serenity", "So", "Sonorific", "Serenata" and "Blazer". Most now berth at the small marina at Tayport Harbour on the south side of the river or at Dalgety Bay on the Forth.

Racing is mainly at the Royal Tay YC and at the Tay Corinthian YC and consists of evening Points, Sunday inshore points, occasional offshore racing and monthly weekend regattas. A Tay Series is planned, which will take in all the clubs. Racing mainly takes place on the flood tide.
