Sonata rudder fittings 0 Replies Posted 2 September 2025

Our rudder failed on Friday so we need to repair it. I think the gudgeons have been pretty worn for a while. Can anyone tell me where to get new compatible fittings? It was held onto the boat with a continuous pin rather than pintles. Is that the usual system?
thanks

Mast base fitting 0 Replies Posted 4 July 2025

Hi,

im after a new mast base I believe it’s the original mast. Can anyone advise what fitting it would be? I can get a rigger to come and look for a couple weeks and want to get it sorted asap.

thanks

fitting masthead light 2 Replies Posted 22 February 2024

I am planning to fit a nmasthead light on Bob. I will be running the cable down the mast while it is stepped and laying on the boat.
Can anyone tell me what Selden mast section is used on the Sonata?
Anyone had experience of running a cable down the mast?
I found this guide, but wondered if anyone had any tips? https://support.seldenmast.com…

Forward Hatch 2 Replies Posted 20 March 2024

Bob’s forward dech hatch is leaking so we bought a better hatch salvaged from a Sonata being scrapped. On the class website under suppliers it lists Houdini Super 50 as the hatch supplier, but neither our original or the replacement look like Houdini hatches. The replacement hatch needs a new seal and one catch is sticking so it would help if it could be identified. The hatch has two small catches rather than handles. There should be a couple of pics if I have added them correctly.

Can someone tell me what sort of hatch BoB has?
Thanks Mike

I have recently purchased a sonata. It has a Mariner 4 Stroke with Neutral and Forward. Any ideas how to get reverse?

I’m not familiar with the Mariner but outboards with no reverse gear will usually rotate through 360 degrees so the propeller faces forward. Before you try this make sure the engine can’t tilt up under the reverse thrust and make sure no part of the engine can jam up against the boat, especially if your fingers are in the way!

Mast Swivel Cleat 0 Replies Posted 16 October 2023

I was putting on the main on my Sonata recently purchased and noticed a cleat and block had sheared off from the bottom of the mast. Not sure of its function? But needs to be replaced. Does anyone know what this is and where I can get a replacement. Any help very much appreciated.

Maybe for the pole uphaul??? I just googled “swivel mast cleat” and got this one from Allen – https://www.allenbrothers.co.uk/product/a4988x-180-swivel-cleat-with-removable-sheave/
